Measure Your Window in 3 Steps
STEP 1

Watch for Obstructions

Common obstructions that may reduce usable depth:

  • Window handles
  • Latches
  • Locks
  • Cranks or winders

How to Measure with Obstructions

Even if your window recess is fairly deep, objects likehandles or cranks can still interfere with the proper closingof the blinds.

To check if there's enough clearance for installation:

  • 1.Measure the total recess depth (number ①) - from the front of the recess to the window surface.
  • 2.Measure the obstruction depth (number ②) - from the front of the window to the front of the obstruction (e.g., a handle).
  • 3. The difference between number 1 and 2 is your free recess space -unobstructed recess depth (number ③).
  • Regular Mount (Cassette Facing Room)

Installed with the cassette facing inward toward the room. Ideal for most installations.

Important: You need at least 1" of unobstructed recess depth (number ③) and at least 1'' of total recess depth (number ①).

  • Reverse Mount (Cassette Facing Window)

Installed with the cassette facing outward toward the window to avoid obstructions.

Important: You need at least 1" of unobstructed recess depth (number ③) and at least 2 7/8'' of total recess depth (number ①).

STEP 2

Measure the Width

Windows may not be perfectly square, so measure in three places:

  • Top of the window recess
  • Middle of the window recess
  • Bottom of the window recess

Record the narrowest measurement. This ensures that your Mono fits properly at the tightest point.

STEP 3

Measure the Height

Next, measure the height of your window recess. Take measurements at three points:

  • Left of the window recess
  • Middle of the window recess
  • Right of the window recess

Just like with the width, use the shortest of the three measurements to ensure a proper fit.

Avoid Common Measuring Mistakes

To ensure the most accurate results, watch out for these common measuring mistakes:

  • Measuring at an angle:  Always keep the tape measure straight and level with the window frame.
  • Letting the tape bend or sag:  A curved tape can throw off your numbers—keep it flat and taut.
  • Incorrect rounding:  Round to the nearest sixteenth of an inch (or 0.1 cm) for best accuracy.

Final Tips for Accurate Measurement
  • Measure with precision: Record the exact numbers, rounding only if necessary (to the nearest 1/16 inch or 0.1 cm) to guarantee a proper fit.
  • Leave the adjustments to us: Provide the true width and height of your window opening — our team will handle any deductions required during production.
  • Measure at the correct depth: Take your measurements from the front inside edge of the window recess, as this is where the blind frame will be positioned.
